1. Data We Collect
When you use Pantria, we collect the following information to provide our services:
- Account information: email address, name, and optional phone number when you create an account.
- Pantry data: food items you add to your pantry, including product names, barcodes, quantities, expiry dates, purchase dates, prices, and store names.
- Nutrition data: food consumption logs, nutrition summaries, and dietary preferences you configure.
- Barcode scans: products you scan for instant lookup and nutrition information.
- Shopping lists: items you add to your shopping lists and auto-suggestions based on consumption patterns.
- Device information: standard browser/mobile metadata including device type, OS version, and app version for error tracking and analytics.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide Pantria's features:
- Inventory tracking: Monitor what food you have, where it is, and when it expires.
- Expiry alerts: Notify you before food goes bad to reduce waste.
- Nutrition insights: Track daily calorie and macronutrient intake, provide weekly/monthly summaries.
- Waste reduction: Calculate food waste metrics and provide recommendations to reduce waste.
- Shopping suggestions: Auto-suggest items to restock based on your consumption patterns.
- Service improvement: Anonymous aggregated data helps us improve the app. We never sell your personal data.
3. Data Storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render.com. All data is encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption. Data in transit is protected by HTTPS/TLS. Backups are performed daily and retained for 7 days.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to provide specific features:
- Sentry: Error tracking to help us identify and fix bugs. Sentry receives crash reports and error logs but no personal pantry or nutrition data.
- Stripe: Payment processing for premium subscriptions. Stripe handles all payment information securely — we never see or store your credit card details.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging: Push notification delivery for expiry alerts, meal reminders, and digest summaries. Firebase receives only the notification content and device token.
- Open Food Facts / USDA: Product nutrition data lookup. Barcode scans are sent to these public databases to return product information.
5. Your Rights
- Access: You can view all your data through the app dashboard and API.
- Export: Contact us to request a full export of your data in JSON format.
- Delete: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This is irreversible.
- Correction: You can edit your profile information and pantry items at any time.
